Why would anyone name their blog after a kitchen utensil (a really big kitchen utensil)?

Back a few years ago around the time of Halloween, I needed a costume. As I was looking around my apartment for inspiration, I ended up in the kitchen — mostly because I wanted a snack. Anyway, I saw a spatula, and proceeded to create an eye-catching (an 8 foot spatula draws attention), but rather clumsy costume. Recently, when I was looking for a domain name for this blog, my good friend Dan Perkel suggested this name. I thought it was brilliant, and the rest is history.
